Researching Various Reasons For Sore Heels
I’ve been researching sore heels and my next step, I think, is to go back a couple of steps — I’ll explain. I was looking for what cures a sore heel when probably I should have been looking at what causes sore heels, ’cause I don’t even know that point yet…
So, focusing back on the task at hand, I found a handful of sites on Google about what causes sore heels. Once again I kept seeing plantar fasciitis come up, and once again I didn’t see any initial results about sore heels that I liked. Is seems, according to Google, that plantar fasciitis is the reason for all sore heels.
However, there may be a reason for that. The first site I go to mentions straight off that plantar fasciitis and heel spurs (the latter is associated with the former — that much I know from my research!) are the most common forms of heel pain. It’s mentioned that both PF and heel spurs come on slowly. Good info here — I feel I’m onto something.
It next tells me that repititious walking, standing, running, and even jumping (who does repititive jumpinng??) can worsen the situation. As well, how you walk, your shoes, and your various activities — e.g., running up steep hills, putting on more weight, repetitive sports, and shoes without an arch support, to name a few, can cause a sore heel.
So it would seem the worse case scenario is an overweight athletic person with old shoes and a bad gait!
Either way, all good information! It would appear that sore heels occur due to either heel spurs, plantar fasciitis, or both — at least for the majority of the time. So looking into night splints for plantar fasciitis wasn’t lost time after all… that may be what the doctor ordered. Knowing now it’s almost set it stone that we’re looking at heel spurs / PF, the next step is to look into what to do next. I’ll certainly be updating on what I find!
